Be a part of our mission!

A nonprofit organization’s mission is at the heart of every choice they make. The food they serve should best reflect the organization’s values since they are on display at the events they host. Be a part of our mission to align event menus with missions by telling your local organizations about Food For Thought!

Hello,

My name is [Your Name] and I am a local resident of [City]. I appreciate all the work [Organization Name] is doing to help make a positive difference. However, I will not attend your events because you serve meat and other animal by-products. It’s inconsistent with your mission to [save animals, help the environment, etc.]. Farmed animals in the food industry suffer tremendously and roughly 10 billion land animals are killed for food each year in the US alone. Animal agriculture has a devastating impact on our environment. Our community looks to you to set an example for [animal-welfare, environmental, etc.] standards, so it doesn’t make sense for you to support this cruel industry. I ask you to please extend your compassion to all animals by serving only vegan foods at your events and fundraisers.

Animal Place’s Food for Thought Program makes it easy. They will help your organization adopt a board-approved, written policy to serve only vegan or vegetarian food at your events. They will answer your questions and address any concerns you may have. They even offer grant opportunities! Please contact them at FoodForThought@AnimalPlace.org. Thank you for your consideration!

Your community member,
[Your Name]

So what are some practical suggestions to make vegetarian and vegan food at your event more accommodating? Try simply catering from a local vegetarian or vegan caterer in your city. Some cities have a vegetarian society with a directory of local veg-friendly restaurants and catering services, like the Toronto Vegetarian Association, the National Capital Vegetarian Association, the Boston Vegetarian Society and Earthsave Canada (among many more).
